I walked, going no where, hiding under my hood. I had my headphones on to drown out the voices.... They usually gave me a headache. I had my army satchal, the only thing left from my father, with my clothes and money, on my back. I walked, looking around.

Tristan walked the streets of New York boredly. He was taking some time to himself, away from the institute while he waited for Artemis to get back and explain what she needed him to do to help her. He was smiling as the sun shined in the sky and he was looking for something to do.

I walked, not looking where i was going. I walked into him, falling back. My headphones came off and the voices came flooding in. I screamed in pain, covering my ears.

Tristan called back when she ran into him. He quickly got up and helped her up when he heard her screaming. "Hey, hey. What's wrong?" He asked her in a low voice trying to calm her down.

I tried to get up, looking around. They were so loud.
Whats wrong with her?
Is she ok?
What a freak?
Should we call 911?
the voices were loud i could barely hear the guy.

Tristan spoke louder. "Follow me." He also pointed to an allyway with little people to show where he meant. He wrapped an arm around her shoulder and lead her away from the crowd of people.

I went in the ally, the voices drowning out. I sat on the floor, breathing heavily. I shook myself, reminding myself that id have to get used to that.

Tristan say down beside her and asked, "Are you ok?" He had just met her, but she seemed like she was upset or in trouble about something.

I nodded, putting my hood back on. I didnt talk to him, but just nodded. I rubbed my temples and breathed in slowly. The voices went away, but i could hear his mind.

Tristan sighed and looked at the brick wall ahead of them. "You lost?" he asked her. 'Is she a mutant?' the question ran through his mind.

I looked up at him quickly. "No, im not a mutant... Why do you ask?" i said, thinking he had said it out loud. "and im not lost."

"Don't worry. Your among safe company with me." He said to her and his hands charged with electricity. He stopped the charge and gave her a knowing look. Her answering the question that played in his head gave her away as a mutant.

I got up and got in a stance. "Who are you?" i asked. I didnt care if he knew, fine.... But it would be the last thing hed know if he did something bad.

"Names Tristan. I'm an electro kinetic. And a student at the Xavier institute for mutants. We're all friends there, trying to make the world safe for mutants and humans alike." He said to her as he stood and raised his hands to show he meant no harm to her.

I looked at him and then his hand. I let out a sigh and nodded. "A safe place?" i wanted to be safe.... Maybe i should go.

"Safe place. Mutants live there to learn to control there abilities and be able to survive in society. Professor X helps any and all mutants that want it." Tristan said to her and lowered his hands.

I though for a bit. "Ok.... I wana see this place." i said. I didnt have anywhere else to go or anything left to lose... I might as well go.

I winced. I was afraid of the voices but i closed my eyes. I opened them slowly eyes glowing red and green, and locked into his thoughts. I put my sun glasses on to hide my glowing eyes and nodded. "Yea... Just as long as you talk in your mind im good."

'This will feel weird but ok. Let's go.' He sent her his thought as he lead her out into the street.

I followed him, holding my pack strap tightly.
im sorry if its creepy... But its the only way to not hear the voices for a little while...
i sighed, looking at the ground as we walked.

'Its not creepy. Just different. It's actually pretty cool, talking like this.' Tristan said to her with a smile as they walked along the street head to the institute.

I gave a small smile, tho he didnt see it. I concentrated hard on keeping the connection.
